product category
HDPE Reducer is a pipe fitting connected by hot-melt butt welding technology, which is specially used for the reducer connection of HDPE pipe systems with different pipe diameters. It is made of high-quality high-density polyethylene raw materials, with excellent corrosion resistance, impact resistance, flexibility and long life (more than 50 years), and is widely used in municipal water supply and drainage, chemical fluid transportation, farmland irrigation, mining engineering and other fields.
Product Features
1. High-strength sealing
The hot-melt butt welding process is used to completely fuse the reducer and the pipe interface to form a seamless integrated connection, eliminating the risk of leakage, and the sealing performance far exceeds the mechanical connection method.
2. Excellent weather resistance
It is resistant to ultraviolet rays, acid and alkali and chemical corrosion, suitable for extreme environments from -40℃ to 60℃, and does not require additional anti-corrosion treatment when buried underground.
3. Lightweight and easy to construct
The weight is only 1/8 of that of metal pipes, and it is easy to carry and install; the hot-melt butt welding operation is simple, which greatly reduces labor and time costs.
4. Environmental protection and energy saving
The material can be 100% recycled, with low production energy consumption, which meets the requirements of green buildings and sustainable development.
Application scenarios
Municipal engineering: water supply network diameter change, rainwater and sewage pipe branch transformation.
Industrial field: acid and alkali liquid transportation pipeline system in chemical plants.
Agricultural irrigation: diameter change connection between main pipeline and branch drip irrigation belt.
Mining engineering: high wear resistance demand scenario of slurry transportation pipeline.
Construction points
Pretreatment: ensure that the pipe end is flat, clean, and free of oil and impurities.
Heating and welding: Use HDPE Buttfusion Welding Machine to heat the end face of the pipe and the reducer to a molten state (about 210±10℃).
Butt pressurization: quickly align and apply constant pressure, and form a high-strength connection after cooling.
Quality inspection requirements: The welding circle is uniform and full, without false welding or misalignment.

Electric fusion HDPE Reducer is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe fitting that uses electric fusion connection technology. It is specially used for reducing the diameter of pipeline systems with different pipe diameters. The product is heated by a built-in electric heating wire to fuse the pipe and the pipe fitting into one, forming a high-strength, leak-free permanent connection. It is suitable for municipal water supply and drainage, gas transmission, chemical fluids, agricultural irrigation and other fields, especially for engineering scenes with limited space or requiring rapid installation.
Electric fusion HDPE Reducer Features
1. Fast and reliable connection
Adopting the electric fusion process, it automatically fuses after power-on heating, with high construction efficiency, no need for complex equipment, and reduced human operation errors.
It has high welding strength, good sealing, and can withstand high working pressure (PN0.8MPa~1.6MPa).
2. Strong adaptability
It is suitable for connecting HDPE pipes of different brands and batches, and has strong compatibility.
It can be constructed in small spaces (such as pipe wells and underground laying), and its flexibility is better than hot-melt butt welding.
3. Corrosion resistance and long life
HDPE materials are resistant to chemical corrosion, acid and alkali, suitable for conveying various media, and have a service life of more than 50 years.
Anti-ultraviolet and anti-aging, no additional anti-corrosion treatment is required for underground burial.

Butt-fusion HDPE reducer VS electric-fusion HDPE reducer
1. Comparison of connection methods
Comparison Item | Butt Fusion HDPE Reducer | Electrofusion HDPE Reducer |
Connection Principle | Butt fusion: pipe ends heated and pressed | Embedded electric wire heats and fuses the joint |
Construction Equipment | Butt fusion welding machine (larger in size) | Electrofusion welding machine (portable) |
Applicable Pipe Diameter | Typically for larger diameters (DN ≥ 90) | Suitable for medium and small diameters (DN50–DN630) |
Space Requirement | Requires more operating space | Suitable for confined spaces (e.g., pipe shafts, trenchless work) |
Joint Strength | Fusion strength ≥ pipe material | High fusion strength, but requires strict parameter control |
Construction Speed | Slower (heating and cooling needed) | Faster (automated fusion process) |
Skill Requirement | High (requires skilled workers) | Lower (automated parameter control) |
Cost | High equipment cost, low fitting cost | High fitting cost, but lower construction cost |
2. Key selection factors
Pipe diameter range
Butt fusion is suitable for large diameters, and electric fusion is suitable for small and medium diameters.
Construction environment
Electrofusion is preferred for narrow spaces (such as underground pipe wells); butt fusion can be selected for open-air or large construction sites.
Long-term performance
Butt fusion has better long-term creep resistance and is suitable for high-pressure and high-stress environments.
Cost considerations
Electrofusion pipe fittings have high unit prices but fast construction, while butt fusion equipment investment is large but pipe fittings are cheap.
Industry specifications
Special industries such as gas and nuclear power may require electric fusion or butt fusion.
What is the standard for HDPE reducer?
The standards for HDPE (high-density polyethylene) reducers mainly involve material properties, size specifications, connection methods and related industry specifications. The following are the main standards and technical points of HDPE reducers:
1. Material standards
The raw materials of HDPE reducers must meet the following standards:
GB/T 13663.2-2018 “Polyethylene (PE) Pipe Systems for Water Supply Part 2: Pipe Fittings”
ISO 4427 (international standard, applicable to PE80, PE100 materials)
GB/T 19472.2-2017 (applicable to HDPE structural wall pipes, such as carat pipes, winding pipes, etc.)
Key indicators:
Density ≥ 0.941 g/cm³ (HDPE)
Melt index (MFR) meets PE80/PE100 grade requirements
Elongation at break ≥ 350%
Environmental stress cracking resistance (ESCR) ≥ 1000 hours
2. Size and specification standards
Nominal diameter (DN): Common specifications include DN20-DN800, and reducers need to be marked with the pipe diameters at both ends (such as DN200×DN160).
Wall thickness: in accordance with the pressure level specified in GB/T 13663.2 or ISO 4427 (such as PN0.8MPa, PN1.0MPa, PN1.6MPa).
3. Connection method standards
The main connection methods of HDPE reducers are:
Electric fusion connection (applicable to DN20-DN800): in accordance with GB/T 19806-2005 “Plastic pipes and fittings Polyethylene electric fusion assembly extrusion peeling test”.
Hot fusion (applicable to DN90 and above): in accordance with GB/T 19809-2005 “Plastic pipes and fittings Polyethylene (PE) pipes/fittings or pipes/pipes Hot fusion assembly preparation and testing”.
Key requirements:
Welding strength ≥ pipe body strength
The sealing of the interface needs to pass the airtightness test (such as 0.6MPa pressure for 30 minutes without leakage).
4. Industry application standards
Different application fields have additional requirements for HDPE reducers:
Water supply engineering: comply with GB/T 17219-1998 “Safety evaluation standard for drinking water transmission and distribution equipment and protective materials”.
Gas engineering: must meet GB 15558.2-2005 “Buried polyethylene (PE) pipeline system for gas Part 2: Pipe fittings”.
Drainage engineering: refer to CJ/T 270-2017 “Technical regulations for buried polyethylene drainage pipe pipeline engineering”.
