100mm pvc pipe fittings

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) pipe fittings are key connectors in building drainage, municipal engineering and industrial pipeline systems. Among them, 100mm diameter (about 4 inches in diameter) has become a common specification for medium and large drainage systems due to its moderate flow and strength. This type of fittings has gradually replaced traditional metal fittings with advantages such as corrosion resistance, strong pressure resistance and convenient installation.

Common types of 100mm pvc pipe fittings

Elbow

90° elbow: changes the vertical direction of the pipeline, suitable for wall corners or equipment interfaces.

45° elbow: gentle angle turning, reducing water flow resistance, common in underground drainage systems.

Double elbow (double socket): both ends are designed with sockets, directly inserted into the pipeline connection.

Tee

Equal diameter tee: all three ports are 100mm, used to divert the main pipeline.

Reducing tee: such as 100mm×50mm, connecting branches of different pipe diameters (such as branch pipes and main drainage pipes).

Coupling

Used to extend the pipe, divided into full bearing type and union type, the latter can be disassembled for easy maintenance.

Flange Adaptor

Fixed by bolts, connects PVC pipes and metal equipment (such as water pumps and valves), and needs to be matched with rubber gaskets to prevent leakage.

Cleanout

Accessories with openable covers are convenient for cleaning when the pipe is blocked, usually installed at the turning point of the drainage system.

End Cap

Seals the end of the pipe, used for temporary plugging or testing.

Reducer

For example, 100mm to 75mm, to adapt to the needs of changing pipe diameters.

Core application scenarios

Building drainage system

In high-rise buildings, 100mm PVC pipe fittings are used to connect toilet main drain pipes, floor drain collection pipes, etc., and elbows and tees are used to achieve multi-directional layout.

Municipal rainwater pipe network

The rainwater collection pipes under the road often use 100mm specifications, and are equipped with inspection ports for easy maintenance.

Industrial wastewater treatment

The acid and alkali resistant wastewater pipes of chemical plants, PVC fittings can resist chemical corrosion.

Agricultural irrigation

In greenhouse drip irrigation systems, tees are diverted to branch pipes, and flange joints are connected to water pumps.

100mm pvc pipe fittings key indicators for purchase

Material certification

Choose products that comply with GB/T 5836-2018 (China Building Drainage PVC Standard) or ASTM D2665 (International Standard) to ensure impact resistance and weather resistance.

Pressure level

Common PN0.6 (low pressure) to PN1.6 (medium pressure), drainage systems generally use PN0.6.

Connection method

Adhesive type: special PVC glue is required, with strong sealing but cannot be disassembled.

Rubber ring seal type: quick installation, suitable for underground projects.

Threaded type: used for special equipment interfaces.

Installation precautions

Cutting and grinding

Use a special PVC cutter to ensure a smooth cut, and use sandpaper to polish the burrs to avoid loose bonding.

Gluing steps

Clean the socket and the plug → Apply glue (even coverage) → Quickly insert and rotate 90° → Let stand for 30 minutes to solidify.

Slope design

The drainage pipe needs to maintain a 2% slope (2cm drop per meter), and pay attention to the direction of water flow when installing the tee.

Seismic design

In high-rise buildings, it is recommended to install expansion joints every 3 meters to prevent deformation due to thermal expansion and contraction.

FAQ

Q: How high a temperature can 100mm pvc pipe fittings withstand?

A: Conventional PVC has a temperature resistance of about 0°C~60°C. CPVC (temperature resistance up to 90°C) is recommended for high temperature environments.

Q: What should be paid attention to when burying underground?

A: Backfill with fine sand to buffer the pressure and avoid sharp stones from directly contacting the pipe.

Q: How to identify inferior fittings?

A: Inferior products have uneven wall thickness, yellowish color (high-quality PVC is milky white), and no manufacturer’s logo.
